FOOTNOTE (2014)

31 years later, workers at the popular Ritzy Picturehouse in Brixton are campaigning for all staff to to earn at least the London Living Wage (currently £8.80/hour).

The campaign by BECTU members has seen Ritzy staff in ongoing negotiations with the owners City Screen to set a new pay deal.

Pointing out that the Ritzy is now one of the company’s highest grossing cinemas, they are asking Picturehouse to pay workers what they believe to be a fair deal.

Having so far failed to reach agreement, Ritzy BECTU Union Reps are about to go into talks at the conciliation service ACAS to try to reach agreement on a new pay deal.

The Ritzy workers have invited people who would like to show their support (and be kept informed of ongoing developments), to ‘like’ their Facebook page: www.facebook.com/RitzyLivingWage.
